So after some searching I found this site where a guy named Chris rebuilt his own controller board for this laser that runs off Mach3. I would be seriously interested in doing something like this as it is a drop in replacement and can quickly be converted back if needed. http://www.chriscircuits.com...

Happy to, Glad to hear you are feeling better Doug. A few things I would like to update are 1. The air tube so it dosen't rub on the cover 2. Add a nozzle of some sort to get better air pressure on the work area / point. This really helps to cut down on burning on cardboard 3. Vent Fan, yea I agree ...

So it looks like the air assist burned out the Coleman pump. I was able to bring in an old compressor I had laying around and hooked it up. Dosent work as well but I need to put a cone or tip on it to direct the air better. I also tried putting one of the old blower fans on there and it seems to ven...

Thanks so much. I look forward to testing out my new images and hopefully get reliable results. Just wondering,, are these controller chips heating up on the board. Would a mini heat sink help?

Working with the laser today and it seems like the Y axis stepper motor is going - gone. I tried to clean as much with the shop vac as I could to remove any chunky bits that might have fallen in the belt but still get a whining grinding noise just on the Y axis.
