Dropped off some stuff...

...with specific goals in mind. 1. There's a really really really sweet absolute positional encoder by the lathe. It is stupidly accurate (microns) and stupidly precise (microns) and stupidly repeatable (sub-micron). It's absolute, so if you turn the power off, move it, and turn the power back on, i...

Re: Maker-tastic garage sale

UPDATE:

The sale will be Saturday and Sunday.

Google map: 4437 2nd Ave S

It'll be in the alley but I'll leave the side gate open and we'll put up some signs or streamers or something.

Maker-tastic garage sale

As some of you may know (and some of you may even care) I'll be blasting out of spaceport Minneapolis bound for planet SparkFun at the end of this month. My garage is a disaster. There is VERY little actual garbage in there (I've thrown most of it away) but what there is there is of very little valu...

Re: Cheap startup on Arduino?

+1. The Mega is attractive from a feature set standpoint but some (many?) of the shields don't work for it without serious code modification and/or hardware hacking. I always always always recommend getting an Uno (or whatever the current vanilla flavor is). The cheaper versions that are out there (...

Re: TC Maker / Hack Factory Needs a new lease!

I'm a bit peeved that an issue this momentous was the subject of an "informal" meeting which was not announced until the day after it took place. We have a blog, a twitter account, and an all-members e-mail list specifically to allow people to find out about this sort of thing. Furthermore...

SNG Garage sale weekend

The Seward Neighborhood Group is running a garage sale on the 13th and 14th of May. Anyone interested in participating? We could use it as a chance to sell off some unwanted stuff from the shop, sell some of the things we may have made but don't want (as a fundraiser), or sell stuff from home that w...

Re: lathe tooling fund - want to chip in?

I'll PayPal you $50 if you tell me where to send it.

I'm really pleased to see that coming together- I've long felt that the lathe was a huge missing tool in our stable.

Re: The Great Global Hackerspace Challenge- we're in.

Okay, here's the latest update: A few of us sat down to talk through some early details last night- nothing earthshaking, just starting the process. - We came up with a preliminary list of organizations that may be interested in working with us on this project as educational entities. - We've identi...
