So...what are you working on?

The initial rush of discussion has slowed down a bit.

I'm looking forward to a meet-up, but until then how about a little bit about what you are working on right now?

I'm a bit scattered in my interests and still recovering from the holiday doldrums, but here goes.

I've been working on learning some simple electronics, as part of that I've been doing a bit of circuit bending and building some simple noise making circuits with and without the Arduino. I finished an optical theramin and my first simple circuit bend and am working on an Atari Punk Console an Arduino based synth and a couple of other things.

I'm a member of local Amateur/Experimental rocketry group for which I am currently tasked with fabricating an impact absorbing nose cone for an 8" rocket that will carry a full beer keg to over a mile high at next years Balls rocket launch.

Wait, isn't that risky for the beer?

(Semi-)Active projects:
  • A ~2x3 foot mosaic
  • Getting together some grid-beam for recyclable furniture projects.
  • I also have an Atari Punk Console and some other timer/oscillator-based synthy doodads partially built but I'm not sure what speaker I should be using to test the output so I've kind of put them down for a while. I have a Thing-a-ma-kit waiting for a free weekend.
  • Various software projects.

Projects waiting for spring:
  • A 4x8x12 foot cat cage outside the house allowing cats to move from our basement to their new enclosure.
  • An improved stone wall at the bottom of our new deck steps.

It could be. Somebody pulled it off last year though, even though the chute shredded and it came in pretty hot, they immediately tapped it after recovery.

I just put a 1/4" jack in my optical theramin so I can plug it into whatever, when I was testing I used a 1/8" jack and headphones. I picked up a small speaker from axeman with intention to use it, but it was much too quiet. I have a satellite from some old AR PC speakers that works perfectly.

Those Thing-a-ma-kits look like fun.

i assume 8" is the engine size?

at present i'm remodeling my bathroom, which is involving a lot of slate knapping and discovering another glitch to delay things a week. it did give me extra copper bits to build a little steam cannon as a gift, and gave me a lovely excuse to buy a wet saw.

the next project is a skin on frame kayak, and organizing the home brewing supplies into something usable (moved and things are a bit higgilty pigglity)

Actually it's the diameter of the keg, we're using the tall skinny type kegs instead of the short heavy ones that they did, it does mean we won't get away with the bounce like they did though.

Oh yeah! I have a bathroom remodel in progress too. And I too bought a wet saw for the project. :)
