This is the vision, please feel free to contribute what you thinks works, and way that you feel you can contribute to this.

If we could do some sort of art opening/mini maker fair that would be cool, something similar to what was done at the science museum last year, only on a smaller scale.

Do an open house with makers things from 2pm-6pm, and then a party from 8pm-11pm on a Saturday. I will attempt to head up this committee Wednesday night and kick things off for this! Well need to get media outlets lined up, poster designed, and start planning logistics. I think that we should shoot for getting this going soon, ideally before the place is filled up with stuff, so we would have a place for tables and such.

More details can be forth comming as we get the plan in palce, however I think this Wednesday (Jan 13 2010) we should set a target Saturday date for this event, and work towards that. This doesn't have to be fancy, but I would like to see folks of all sorts come for this event!

there's ongoing planning (taking a pause while we sus out getting the space running) to host a proper maker fair possibly next summer, but a mini one woudl be a great way to gauge interest and build interest for a big one.

mike and i were collecting contact info for that and ideas, harass us this eve.

Ummm, shouldn't it be the "Minne-Maker Fair?" Awesome concept for an event and a lot of us cranked out a bunch of ideas at tonight's meeting! Stay tuned!

on that note, shouldn't this be the micro maker fair if we're still planning on hosting a "minne maker fair" this summer?

LOL, how about "Micro Minne-Maker Fair?"

I put this in the Make events calendar as the "Twin Cities Maker Minne-faire"- and that's what I've used in the few e-mails I've sent out to potential exhibitors.

It's goofy, but I kinda like it.

I see a post now on the Make: magazine site, but the spelled it as "minne-faire" instead of "minne-fair." Oh well.
