All,
We're putting together a table to demonstrate 3D printers at the Minne-Faire. We have a goal of attempting to print all the required parts for a new RepRap Prusa i2 before the end of the faire. Said printer will be auctioned off, hopefully as a complete kit ready for assembly. We're not sure if this is something we can have ready for the end of the faire or if it will occur at a later date, it's an idea and we're still ironing out the details.
I have all of the STL files and David B. offered to supply the filament. I kept track of the print times and material quantities for the last set of Prusa parts I printed and, barring any failures, should take 55 meters of filament and about 45 hours cumulative print time on a 0.35mm nozzle at 40% infill. We'd love to be able to have enough machines to crank out a set in a day, but I think if we get finished before the end of the faire it can still be dubbed a success. I recommend we use PLA mainly because not everyone has a heated bed, namely myself, and it smells nicer.
Please, contact me if you're interested in participating. I know there are a lot of folks out there that have printers in various states of repair, so if you're interested but your machine is currently non-functional maybe we can have RepRap Repair day (RepRapair?) before the faire.
Regards,
Jon

I'll probably bring my MakerBot Thing-O-Matic in for the TC Robotics Group table. - Doug

Cool. Thanks Doug. Maybe your table will set up next to ours and it'll look like the 3D printers are sprawling and taking over.
I'm going to volunteer Charles' RepRap, so we're up to 3. Hopefully we'll here back from Matt, Jim and some of the others. I don't know how many we can fit on a table, it'll be interesting to see.

We currently have the following 3D printers;
Jon - Mendel Prusa i2 (parent) Charles - Mendel Prusa i2 (child) Dan - Printrbot Plus John - Replicator Doug - Makerbot Thing-o-Matic (even though it'll be on a different table, but hopefully nearby.)
I'd still like to get one or two more. So, if anyone knows of anyone else with a printer, functional or not, I'd like to get in touch with them.
Thanks, Jon

That would be me. I'd love to participate. I'm not sure I can be there both days, however.

Do any of you 3D printer people have an extra RAMPS board lying around? My electronics decided to flake out on me tonight, mid-print. I have pololu drivers. Not sure yet if I need the Arduino Mega.
