Crossover post- I think we should display the MakerBot at Make day. We'll be "competing" with StrataSys, most likely, but it'll still be neat.

That's not a lot of time for getting the thing assembled, pimped, and debugged. Not to mention the time it'll take to grok out the finer details of printing.

In other words, fun on a bun!

If you read the article, there is a bullet-ed list of things that it took to mod it to do that.

6 weeks isn't bad. A competent person working by himself can solder up a Makerbot in a long weekend.

FWIW, I hit up the powers to see if Make wanted a presence there and have been roundly ignored -- not even a return email.
