We will be having our quarterly clean up day from 10-6 Sat Aug 13! Please come and help get our shop cleaned up. Please bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty and possibly work gloves if you just had your nails done. The shop will probably be dusty so anyone with dust sensitivity make sure you have a face mask or respirator.
Tasks that will need to get done include bathroom clean up, floors, shop organization and special projects. John Scherer will be the man in charge!
PS if you are a good we will feed you bbq! Stick around after for the clothesline races!
So come out and help make this space sparkle!

It's sad to see cool events like the clothesline races show up on the calendar and then have no one assigned to plan or announce them.
Is ANYONE planning this, why is it even on the calendar? Events should be announced on the blog/mailing list/twitter/facebook/g+ and all other official forms of communication. If they just get put on the calender they go unnoticed.
I'd suggest the races get bumped back at least 4-6 weeks after an announcement is made so that people actually have time to plan and build a racer.

I agree with Jon here, this is the first that I have heard about the races, on that note I think it would be a good idea to push this information to the blog, I see the blog as the best place to announce things for the group. I am willing to help out with this, does anybody have the information on the clothes line races?

The races are totally on topic.
As the Idea was to have a clean up and an event. This is way to little notification for either.
For a significant number of members the first they will hear about this is Wednesday for an event happening of Saturday. Many others will never hear about it.

I retract my previous statement i did not read the whole original post and the mention of the race i thought they were separate from a previous discussion. jtbarclay, i was wrong and corrected myself but your comment was uncalled for. jtbarclay wrote: karinf22 wrote: PS if you are a good we will feed you bbq!
