Met up tonight with the guy who sold me the Shopsmith, and picked up a tub of parts -- including the missing lathe tailstock. The box also contains a live center, some extension tables, fences and a few other sundries. I dropped off the box at the Factory, it's sitting in front of the Shopsmith.

Ooh, this is very exciting.

I plan on lathing the heck out of that thing once it's up and going.

Since 1) I've never used a lathe before and 2) configuring the Shopsmith requires a PhD in manual reading, I would greatly appreciate some kind of training.

What's needed now to get this thing up and lathing?

As seems usual with the darn thing, it looks like I'm missing parts of the tool rest -- we have part #295, and possibly #293, but the remaining parts are missing. Probably some enterprising metalworking-type person could whack something together. Or I may just go ahead and buy the entire assembly, after consulting with the better half.

The center will work on the other lathe. I'm sure we can get the parts worked out for the Shopsmith also. We will probably use the Shopsmith as needed depending on mountings for the other tools. For example if the resaw blade is mounted in the Bigger band saw then the SS would probably be running a more mulch-functional blade.
