MakerBot Cupcake 3D Printer

Postby jwb » Fri May 08, 2009 9:13 am

Dude, I totally want one of these:

http://makerbot.com/

They're a small 3D printer like a RepRap, made by NYCResistor cats.

Dude, let's buy one, who's in? They cost $720 each. Split four ways that's $180 each. Split five ways it's $144 each. Split six ways it's $120 each.

My only stipulations are that it can't be at my house, but I'd prefer it lived Northeast... Dave? Michael?

slowpoke ;) http://www.twincitiesmaker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=196&p=1872&hilit=cupcake#p1872

i want more info about them, but am thinking that a full reprap is cheaper and a lot more versatile. not nearly as cute though.

I'd throw down for a RepRap.

I'd throw down for a cupcake.
Make it happen.

Everyone note: We are supposed to be getting our MakerBot from Batch 14, delivered in May. If so, there is a minor defect in a part. Click the following image for the MakerBot blog article:

Oh, as of April 21, MakerBot states "All CupCake CNC’s in Batch #14 which have shipped to date have a replacement X-Cap included." So if ours hasn't shipped out yet, perhaps we'll get the replacement part.
