I myself am a homebrewer but have not done: - all-grain sessions
- yeast propagation and preservation (freezing, maintaining strains, producing a batch from strain seeds)
- full brewing home automation
- any work in preserving homegrown hops other than freezing.
All of those topics are curious to me. Another side interest is in hop-less brewing. I'd like to try a batch of some other herb-based brew sometime: http://www.calferm.org/edu/misc/botanicals.htm Has anyone of the homebrew slant tried anything like this?

of note, videoman mentioned last night that he knew of a bucket of non-members interested in taking a class, you two may want to coordinate one.

Uggh, an example of Apple thinking. A simple, cheap, and malleable process made shiny, expensive and proprietary.

I used to do some brewing about 15 years ago, and have some brewing equipment that I can donate to the Hack Factory if it would be useful. I have two 5-gallon glass carboys in perfect condition, a 5 gallon plastic fermentation bucket, a bottle capper, bottle caps, hydrometer, etc. I've kept this stuff thinking I'd brew again, but it just ain't happening, so I'd love to find a useful home for it.

Bumping this topic, though it's well past April. I think we should set something up for June. The 18th to be specific. I think starting fairly small would be best, though if both Dave(Videoman) and I did instruction, we could do an Extract as well as an All Grain. That is all the more I would be willing to do, though just for time constraints.
I think for the brews we should do a Cream Ale, an English Bitter, a Belgian IPA, or a Hefeweiss as they are all permissive of higher temp fermentation.
Equipment I can provide: 1 propane burner + tank 15 gallon Orange Rubermade Mash Tun 10 Gallon pot, no ports CO2 tank + corny kegs Blichman Beer Gun (for bottling) Grain Mill (need to get this thing motorized this summer) Fermentation buckets Cleaner/Sanitizer
