Learn to Solder Equipment
TC Maker has started to accumulate a mass of soldering stuff.
For the Learn to Solder courses there is a box of stuff:
1 kinda non working unit that outlines why it is important to place the chip correctly.
9 solder stations from element 14 www.newark.com/weller/wlc100/hobbyist-soldering-station-40w/dp/92F5084
1 copper braid
1 solder sucker
6 wire snips
Most of this equipment was purchased with the proceeds from the first learn how to solder class held in May 2011.
You can teach the learn to solder class on various Kits, the Simon kit was chosen for one of the classes because it's kind of neat and relatively cheap. Few components, but still a good amount of variety. If ordering from spark fun make sure to get the PTH version there is a SMD version that is a bit more involved.
Radio Shack has donated 21 LED Flashlight kits to our space to teach some learn to solder classes. This could be a great project for a Wednesday night learn to solder event. There are only 8 soldering points I believe and is very simple to assemble. If anyone would like to help teach a quick class please send an email to Karin @ events@tcmaker.org We can put it on the calendar as an event. This event could be free or a five dollar donation to go towards the electronics fund.
A fund has been started from some of the learn to solder classes to order some electronic components for all members.
The current state fo the fund is $14/100, Paul Sobczak currently has the funds.
