Laser Cutter/Engraver
Epilog Mini 24 x 12 - 35 watt or equivalent approx $17,000 also needs a Ventilation/ Filtration system SPH-400 system approx $2000.00 Good resource on ladyada's site and NYC Resistor's site
The Epilog Mini has been the starter laser for many hackerspaces. Epilog makes a small entry laser cutter the zing for about 8,000, this is a great value but has a tiny work area.
There are some really cheap alternatives that have started to arrive on the market see rabbit laser These have just started to make an impact on the market late 2010. Some people are getting good results but it remains questionable if they are long term reliable.
Kickstarter funded Lasersaur also look promising but as of March 2011 is not available.
