Part of being excellent to each other is being nice to the tools provided at the Hack Factory.

• If you aren't sure of how to use a tool safely and correctly, ask for help
• Respect the tool-labeling system
• Keep tools in safe state – check them for safety before using, and make them safe when you're done
• Provide your own consumables, or pool in with others
• Tell the shop manager if a tool is broken, unsafe, or needs maintenance
• If you know how to maintain a tool, coordinate with the shop manager before doing the work
• Clean the tools and work area when you're done
• Use tools for the stuff they're intended for. For example:
  • Don't cut wood with the metal saw – those blades are expensive
  • Don't cut Lexan with a wood blade in a table saw, that's dangerous and kills the blade
