Instructor: George Hindley
This class, hosted by Twin Cities Maker, will specialize in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding procedures.
This class is for beginners, advanced welders/fabricators, or for those that just have an interest. The class is designed to get people comfortable with common welding joints and procedures, machine settings, and dialing in distance, angle, speed, and heat. Premium industrial to medium industrial Miller machines are provided, and a large variety of sheared plate coupons to 16 gauge sheet coupons, mostly mild steel is also provided.
Twin Cities Maker will have personal safety gear available (welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses), however feel free to bring your own if you feel the need to.
The class is 5 hours long with the first hour covering welding processes and how they correlate, polaritys, shielding gases, and different alloys. A student can be expected to be educated on what type of machine suits different fabricators based on price points, materials planning to use and the like. The second part of class is hands-on for the remaining 4 hours with the instructor with a brief lunch break at 1 p.m. for 15 to 20 minutes. The class also includes a brief covering of plasma cutting and grinder attachments.
Your instructor, George Hindley, is a local professional fabricator/artist based out of SE Minneapolis. He holds a welding degree with 8 years of fabricating experience in the field. For any questions on the class, you can reach him through Google/or the website listed below. Students are welcome after the class to email any questions and or stop by his shop with project advisement. Membership information for Twin Cities Maker will also be provided.
